Therapy for Couples at Every Stage of the Journey
At Shine Therapy and Coaching, we provide in-person and virtual couples therapy. Couples therapy can be a very beneficial way to work through conflicts, decision making, and or general communication. Having a safe and objective space to share your feelings and process them can be extremely beneficial. A major pillar of couples therapy is to improve communication and look at disagreements not as problems but as ways to be handled in a more productive and healthy way. We all come to relationships with our own set of values and beliefs, and couples therapy can be very beneficial in helping you and your partner to listen and be heard.
It is important to remember that all couples come up with challenges at some point in their relationship. Every couple will have challenges. What the challenges are can be just as important to explore as the lens through which they are looked at. The space we provide will help the couple to either move on or move forward. It is also important to remember that there are many benefits to being in a partnership, but it can also be hard work! Additional challenges could be that you have not been surrounded by models of healthy relationships; therefore, it is hard to know the best ways to handle situations as they arise. We all come into partnerships through different backgrounds, values and understandings. Therapy can help us to merge the differences in order to leave in greater harmony.
How Relationship Counseling Can Help You Grow Together
Improving Communication:
One of the most common challenges couples face is how they express themselves. Therapy can help identify patterns—what some call a “relationship dance”—that may no longer be serving the partnership. It’s not about who’s right or wrong, but about creating healthier ways to connect and communicate.
Resolving Conflict:
Therapy offers a neutral space where both partners can bring their concerns. A clinician acts as an objective voice, helping you work through disagreements so that both people feel heard, valued, and understood.
Addressing Intimacy Issues:
Intimacy can evolve over time and may bring up challenges, both emotionally and physically. Couples therapy creates a safe environment to explore these changes, foster deeper connection, and develop practices that carry into daily life.
Navigating Major Life Transitions:
Life events such as moving, career changes, illness, or becoming parents can create stress in a relationship. Therapy provides support during these transitions, helping each partner feel seen and supported throughout the process.
Managing Financial Stress:
Money is often a source of conflict, as each partner brings their own beliefs and experiences around finances, often shaped by upbringing. Therapy helps couples unpack these differences and find practical, respectful solutions.
Aligning on Parenting Styles:
Differences in parenting philosophies can create tension in the relationship. Therapy provides a space to explore these differences, reduce conflict, and work toward shared approaches to raising children.
